Spain Road Trip Day #5 originally emailed March 24, 2015

This morning we visited the historic Carnegie Deli to meet up with some friends from, of all places, California.  We were all entertained by our waiter, Wayne, who gave us some very good advice.  “Don’t get an egg sandwich, you can get that anywhere, here you get corned beef or pastrami!”, “No sharing!”  “There is a charge for sharing and I have my eyes on you!”.  But then he brought us some free samples of pastrami and corned beef enough to make a small sandwich.  Wayne also recommended that we drink some of John Steinbeck’s favorite, “The Novel-tea”.  Not to be outdone I asked if they had something for a friendly doctor, maybe some “Hospital-i-tea?”.

Today is the day we finally make it to Spain.  Well actually we don’t get there until tomorrow.  We leave JFK on March 24th and arrive in Madrid on March 25th.  This will be a very special March 25th since we get to see our girls but also special because my mom will turn 99 years old.  Great going mama!
We are currently waiting to board our flight but before we left for the airport Patrice and I had to give our regards to Broadway one more time.  Please see the attached photo directly from Times Square.  Do you recognize the young lovers on the Revlon Love Vision screen?
No more writing for today.  No internet on flights across the Atlantic so the next time you hear from me will be on the 25th from España.
Hasta luego mis amigos,
Roberto
